INTEGRATIVE STUDIO

Session 1

The very first class of my design school, I couldn’t decide if I was excited or nervous. I had only heard about making models till now, we made 1 by 1 inch boxes and gave them different colours andafter that named the boxes by a colour they aren’t colours with. This was followed by a deep thoughtabout how blind people see a colour but name it something else. This mind revolting activity, made us think and introspect upon our own lives. How we complaint about our just-so-perfect life. It taught us looking at the world with a different perspective along with empathy- putting us in someone else’s shoes.

Session 2

After session 1, we got a brief about the model we had to compose further using 4 by 4 inch box. After a lot of thought process and mind blogging, thinking of ways to compose dots into 3d space,with multiple 2D and 3D forms, there were too many forms available to choose from. We also learnt how playing with paper could give various forms, rolling it gave us a cylinder, while we formed a cone, it gave an idea of a point and a circle in the same object.

Session 3

Who am I ? that’s what we contemplated this class, truly find what best describes us. Whether it may be loyalty or laziness, flowing or frustration and calming or captivating. Whatever gives you the best definition. Figure out 10 metaphors and sketch them using shapes, lines and dots was what we were told to do, so these 10 compositions actually describe us. These are the 10 metaphors that describe me :

Session 4

After session 3 we were asked to make models made of file cards, real job was to achieve this now, from dot and line. Making it using file card was much easier as the material is not as light as printing paper , helping us form rigid models. It also has a property of sticking to itself, since it is a fibrous material. Working around the various dimensions of the models was a fun activity, height played an important role in creating a story.Different edges also made it interesting. We had a play of emotions with sharp as serious, curve smooth as calm and rough edge as a negative emotion.
